More than 95% of the sharpeners used today are some kind of "grinding" device. Typically, these machines have a sanding wheel or belt that can be replaced as it wears out. These wheels/belts come in a limited range of grit sizes (fine to coarse) and generally are not easy to change. What's more, these other wheels and belts can be used only to create a square squeegee edge profile. In addition to sharpening standard square edges, Encore Engineering, Inc. machines can create and maintain many different squeegee edge profiles. We even design custom shapes for unique screen printing requirements and applications.
| |  | Encore Engineering uses only industrial diamond-coated wheels on all sharpeners for two reasons:
1. Diamonds offer unparalleled performance for sharpening squeegees, providing the highest quality squeegee edge.
2. Diamond wheels are virtually indestructible when properly maintained using a simple cleaning technique, and are warranted against delamination for a full five years. No other sharpening method offers this type of warranty. When properly maintained, wheels should never need replacement.
Diamond wheels range in size from 1-6 inches, depending on machine model. The maximum speed for all wheels is 3000-3500RPM and the wheels are keyed to the machine motors for peak performance. Depending on the profile of the wheel, grit sizes from 60 to 600 are available. |
